La Moneda

One of two cool but puzzling carvings, see below, what I mean	Maybe my all-time favorite Moai carving (modern?)

Now here I saw something that I thought interesting. So, is it a sort of headdress or top-knot? This carving does not in my opinion, support the top-knot.

Back outside, walking around the La Moneda Palace. People here talk of it with great pride.

In front, the statue of former socialist president Salvadore Allende who died during a coup, in the presdidential palace. While his policies may have failed, today's Chile appears to be in pretty good shape.
